Project
Prompt: make a soft chair to suit a modern youthful hostel lobby
Design Sketches
Process
Cutting the base - Hot wire cutter thru 5 layers of foam with wood as shape guide
Padding the base - Spray glued upholstery foam and batting
Upholstering the base - Sewed the cover out of thick silky rug fabric
Stapling the base - Staple gunned the fabric in place with pleats hidden and wooden arm connection pieces

Arms - Oiled, dowel joinery to connect U piece attached, glued and stapled to base
U Piece Backrest - giant jig, bent laminations taped town, secured to arms with dowel joints
Final Product
This was the midterm project for my Senior Year Industrial Design Chair Studio class taught by Prof. Asher Rodriquez-Dunn.
